Product Description:
Washing delicate lace, such as Dentelle de Calais, requires care to preserve the fabric and texture. Here is a step-by-step guide to properly caring for lace:
1. Hand washing is best
Fill a bowl or sink with cold to lukewarm water. Hot temperatures can warp or damage the lace.
Use a mild, liquid detergent specifically for delicate fabrics (such as wool or silk detergent).
2. Careful cleaning
Soak the lace for a few minutes.
Do not rub too hard, but gently move the lace through the water to remove dirt and odors.
3. Rinse
Rinse the lace with cold water until all the detergent is removed.
4. Do not wring or pull
Squeeze the water gently, without wringing. This prevents the lace from stretching or deforming.
5. Dry
Lay the lace flat on a clean towel and roll it up to squeeze out excess water.
Let it dry flat on a towel or drying rack away from direct sunlight or heat to prevent fading or damage.
6. Ironing (optional)
If the lace is creased, you can gently iron it at a low temperature, preferably with a cloth in between to avoid direct contact with the iron.
With this care, delicate lace will remain beautiful and in good condition for a long time!
